Scrambling
In the land of plenty
Why is it, no one seems
       to be able to
           be satisfied
Always wanting more
Even to the detriment
Of the self
The detriment of all

In the land of plenty
Where the excess abound
Its always about more
Than is necessary
Too much power
    Food, drink, drug
      Sex, money, hatred
Destroying our sense of self

In the land of plenty
Obsession with the pursuit of security
But no thoughts, no words, no acts about justice
Fears real and imaginary aplenty
Governing and justifying the actions
Be it among citizens
Be it the nation to the world
Selfishness an accepted norm
Victimizing as we scramble to secure
Robbing others of the very things
Held precious    justice   freedom   liberty
Loosing our humanity

In the land of plenty
Things needed the most
Are the ones ever lacking factor
The compassion the love
The respect, the discipline
The moral restrain
Only laying bare ourselves
In moments of crisis
Patting ourselves on the backs
For little acts of compassion
Singing the praises of moral fortitude
To support selfish agendas
As if that makes up for
The callousness towards life
The greed and selfishness
Running out of control
As we scramble for the illusions.
