Saying What You Want
Won't you say
What is it that you want
   of this life
What is important to you
To cherish for yourself
   and another human being

There is the need for love
People waiting on love
Not wanting to
Afraid to express
Share the very thing
They crave so much

The heroes of the ages accepted
We talk about the legacies left behind
Used their ideals to further selfishness
But never really embracing the essence of
their struggles for justice and equality

What kind of peace do you expect
When you enshroud yourself
   in patriotism and ideology
Allow your leaders to oppress
  in your name
Turn a blind eye to the
   sights of injustice
A deaf ear to the victims cries
Leaving an air of hypocrisy
 in your path

What becomes of humanity
As popular sentiments define life
And the question of right or wrong
is not the defining line for our actions
Like the mothers pain doesn't run
   to her soul
As we go about destroying life's
   hopes and dreams

Do you think that your actions
doesn't matter
That some political leader
  or whatever leader
have a magical solution for your
fears and insecurities
How could you expect the upholders
of injustice to care for you and I
As they strive off our miseries
While making promises of a
  better tomorrow

Don't you understand
The better tomorrow we desire
Lies in our hands
As we respect humanity
Practices some honesty with everyone
Opening our hearts to love
