Politics and Humanity
An election year
And once again it’s the promises
Politicians telling us the people
What they think we the people want to hear
Dancing around the issues of we the people
Buying time hoping to gain that victory
To hold that reign of power
To behave with impunity towards humanity
As we the people slip back to business as usual

Today there’s talk about
Replacing the always selected president
Living under this watch
We see the mockery of everything decent
A blatant hypocrisy that must be pervasive
Within a society that should be enraged
Demanding higher standards from leaders
But remain subdued, quiet and intimidated
As the conspiracies against humanity are exposed

I have to wonder of a democracy cloaked in secrecy
Pursuing the greed of a few
Brushing aside the need of the society,
Justice
Undermining the fundamental principle of democracy
Majority rule
Using laws to prevent us knowing what is been done
Telling us to accept their lies as the truth
Even when we know differently
The actions there, a testimony to words spoken

Halie Selassie I Crowned Kings of kings
Speak of leadership as such :
‘he who would be a leader must pay the price
in self-discipline and moral restraint…..
leaders have to submit themselves to a stricter
self-discipline and develop a more exemplary
moral character than is expected of others’
So I ask you what do you see in your leaders
Where are the morals, the integrity, the sense of justice

What reflections of you, lies within your leaders
That you accept the perpetuation of the injustices
The inequalities
Remain silent and indifferent towards the inhumanity
Accept the destruction of the lives of those considered different
This looting and pillaging in your name to benefit a few
Putting patrotism and niches before humanity
Forgetting that what ever I sanction against you, against them
Is what I sanction against me, against humanity.
