Facts and Illusions
Looking out over your city
At what you claim to be your creation
Towering structures dotting the skyline
Housing achievements
Great feats of science and technology
And it becomes obvious
Where the arrogance
the over inflated sense of self
            feelings of invincibility emerges from
Forgetting that the achievements
            defined as your creations
 Are merely your limited understandings
Of the infinite knowledge within the universe

It might deflate the ego
Should I remind you
That besides your glory
You are still only human
One who still agonizes over spurn love
Succumb to the calls and dictates
Of emotions, passions and desires
Seeking to enjoy the comforts of life’s beauties
Cringing at the prospect of dying
In essence ruled by what binds us
One to the other as human beings

So I understand why you
Relish in these accomplishments
Pretending God’s blessing upon you
Is of your own doing
Not to be shared with mankind
Not wanting to acknowledge
That the knowledge you lay claim to
Is nothing new to the universe
That you are only now learning
And using a little of the infinite wisdom

Now it’s weapon of mass destruction
To instill fear and maintain illusions
Supporting lies and misconceptions
Wanting to erect concepts of invincibility
Through your inventions
Not wanting to accept your mortality
Ever pushing the limits
Breaking down the moral principles
Trying to fool yourselves into believing
That it begins and ends with you
When in truth
You are just on a journey through earth
